1. General Description

The IT6227FN is a highly integrated USB Type-C and Power Delivery (PD) controller with DisplayPort to HDMI converter, designed for dongle applications.

 

The IT6227FN has integrated Type-C DFP/UFP/DRP resistors and control logic with dead battery support. For USB PD applications, IT6227FN fully supports PD2.0, and PD3.0 including chunk mode. The built-in DisplayPort receiver is fully compatible with DisplayPort 1.4a and HDCP 1.3/2.3 specifications. With 4-Lane HBR3 (High-Bit-Rate 3) configuration and DSC 1.2a, the DP receiver can support VESA resolution up to WUXGA (1920x1200 @ 240Hz), WQXGA (2560x1600 RB @ 240Hz) and CEA resolution up to 4Kx2K 4:4:4 @ 120Hz or 8Kx4K 4:4:4 @ 30Hz or 8Kx4K 4:2:0 @ 60Hz. This DisplayPort receiver also supports MCCS and CEC tunneling over AUX channel.

 

The built-in HDMI transmitter is a high-performance HDMI 2.1 transmitter, fully compliant with HDMI 2.1a, HDCP 1.4/2.3 and backward compatible with DVI 1.0 specifications. This HDMI transmitter can support color depth up to 36 bits (12 bits/color) and ensures robust transmission of high-quality uncompressed video content. Aside from the various video output formats supported, this HDMI transmitter also supports 8 channels digital audio with sampling rates up to 192kHz, sample size up to 24 bits, and HBR audio.

 

With embedded MCU and Flash, IT6227FN is easy to program. No external Flash or MCU is required, reducing BOM cost and saving board space.

 

Each IT6227FN comes pre-programmed with a unique HDCP key, in compliance with HDCP 1.3/2.3 – Amendment for DisplayPort, Rev.1.0 and HDCP 1.4/2.3 –HDMI compliance standards ensuring secure transmission of high-definition content. Users of the IT6227FN need not purchase any HDCP keys or ROMs.
