ADAS Camera Solutions

150623-F-QN515-049

Advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) cameras transmit vital information about vehicle surroundings to the ADAS processor to inform and deploy vehicle safety systems when necessary. This naturally demands the highest precision and accuracy to ensure safety measures are implemented exactly when and how they are needed.

Once a camera captures critical visual data, this video data must be reliably transmitted to the car ECU for processing. Analog Devices’ gigabit multimedia serial link (GMSL) technology delivers this crucial camera data over a shielded twisted pair (STP) or a coaxial cable up to 15 meters away through an electrically noisy environment. The GMSL link consists of a serializer at the camera and ends with a deserializer at the ECU. ADI has developed industry-leading technology to make sure each pixel arrives correctly while providing flexibility in routing the camera data.

In this video, Sunho shows how to quickly set up a GMSL1 link between the MAX96705 and MAX96706 and provides an overview of the graphical user interface.

Automotive Power & GMSL Solutions for ADAS/Camera Applications

High-resolution machine vision front, rearview and surround view cameras are becoming more integrated in new vehicles, and power requirements are also increasing over time. ADI’s automotive GMSL and power management solutions offer superior performance, extremely small solution size and reduced BOM cost. ADI’s high power density solutions enable system integrators to further reduce design footprints to accommodate a higher level of integration. Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL)-compliant total solutions help engineers resolve the functional safety design challenges these systems require.

C2B Car Camera Bus

ADI’s car camera bus (C2B) is an innovative camera link technology from ADI enabling HD video over unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cables and unshielded connectors. This enables an easy upgrade path from SD to HD cameras without changing the existing cable and connector infrastructure. C2B enables reduced system cost and weight along with increased robustness and flexibility by providing sideband communication over the same UTP cable.

C²B provides many advantages to camera systems.
